《簡愛》是這么一本東西。我的英文水平，是可以讀原文的，但是看著那令人目眩的動(dòng)輒三四行的長句，往往就望而卻步。手頭一個(gè)版本是黃源深翻譯的。感覺還不錯(cuò)。隨看隨翻。在午后陽光和一杯烏龍茶的幫助下，我成功的做到了神游物外，逃避現(xiàn)實(shí)，重新回到初一時(shí)第一次讀這本書的記憶中。
我在讀初一前，看的大多是古書，或者白話文。所以我現(xiàn)在能用現(xiàn)代語寫作和勾引MM，啟蒙者是我初一暑假讀的那一堆西方文學(xué)著作。這一點(diǎn)，我認(rèn)同王小波的話：真正的現(xiàn)代漢語，是一群偉大的翻譯家留下來的。從這個(gè)意義上來講，他們是我語言的老師。

聽過一個(gè)說法，就是《簡愛》發(fā)表之初，有人認(rèn)為它和《呼嘯山莊》出自同一人手筆。如果現(xiàn)在來看，我得承認(rèn)的是，《呼嘯》的水平，怕是在《簡愛》之上多矣。語言方面我沒資格去斤斤計(jì)較_英文還沒到如此水平_僅僅論及結(jié)構(gòu)和流勢(shì)，如此而已。
我在重讀了《簡愛》的過程中，發(fā)現(xiàn)了一些令我不安的東西。那些東西附身于小說的夾縫之中。我之不安是在于：我已對(duì)其產(chǎn)生隱約的不滿，而我又不想去忤逆我曾經(jīng)至愛的經(jīng)典。無論如何，我在行文之中，發(fā)現(xiàn)了一些不令我愉快的東西。
