英語四級翻譯的課堂筆記

　　答案與解析：

　　1. Instead of going swimming

　　原文中 沒有 并不一定要對應(yīng)成didnt，可以使用instead of，使譯文簡潔明了，合乎英語習(xí)慣。采用正譯法，用英語不帶否定詞的表達來代替中文的 沒有去 。從另一角度看，后半句英語沒有出現(xiàn)表示轉(zhuǎn)折含義的連接詞(如but)，因此They didnt go swimming也是不成立的，不符合句法規(guī)范。

　　2. the increase in demand resulted in /caused the rise in prices

　　要注意分清result from 和result in的區(qū)別。result from指be caused by(由 產(chǎn)生)，是指原因;result in指cause，lead to(導(dǎo)致 )，是指結(jié)果。

　　3. because he has a loose tongue

　　多嘴多舌 顯然有g(shù)ossip的意思。答案because he has a loose tongue看起來與原文并不對應(yīng)，但卻形象地講內(nèi)涵表達了出來。其他類似的翻譯還有：a bitter tongue(刻薄嘴);a long tongue(快嘴);a rough tongue(粗魯話);a sharp tongue(言語尖刻);a silver tongue(流利的口才);a smooth tongue(油嘴滑舌)。
