            定語從句是本單元的語法要點(diǎn),是在1-8單元已經(jīng)對(duì)該語法知識(shí)有所滲透的前提下安排的。本節(jié)課話題是讓學(xué)生體會(huì)音樂在生活中無處不在,體會(huì)不同類型音樂的特點(diǎn),學(xué)會(huì)熱愛生活;能用簡(jiǎn)單的定語從句形式表述自己的觀點(diǎn)。通過本節(jié)的學(xué)習(xí),增強(qiáng)學(xué)生對(duì)復(fù)合句的理解,提高其對(duì)此句式的應(yīng)用能力。

            Explain attributive clauses.

            定語從句:在復(fù)合句中修飾名詞或者代詞的從句叫做定語從句。先行詞是“人”時(shí),用關(guān)系代詞who引導(dǎo),先行詞是“物”時(shí),用關(guān)系代詞that來引導(dǎo)

            I love singers who write their ownmusic

            I like music that I can dance to.

            a. that即可代表事物也可代表人,which代表事物;它們?cè)趶木渲凶髦髡Z或賓語,that在從句中作賓語時(shí)?墒÷躁P(guān)系詞,which在從句中作賓語則不能省略。而且,如果which在從句中作“不及物動(dòng)詞+介詞”的介詞的賓語,注意介詞不要丟掉,而且介詞總是放在關(guān)系代詞which的前邊,但有的則放在它原來的位置

            b. which作賓語時(shí),根據(jù)先行詞與定語從句之間的語義關(guān)系,先行詞與which之間的介詞不能丟

            c. 代表物時(shí)多用which,但在帶有下列詞的句子中用that而不用which,這些詞包括all,anything, much等,這時(shí)的that常被省略

            d. who和whom引導(dǎo)的從句用來修飾人,分別作從句中的主語和賓語,whom作賓語時(shí),要注意它可以作動(dòng)詞的賓語也可以作介詞的賓語

            e. where是關(guān)系副詞,用來表示地點(diǎn)的定語從句

            1. Hmm,depends which movie.

            1) 本句省略了depends前的主語it和whichmovie后的從句部分we’ll watch,這是典型的口語表達(dá)形式。在口語和非正式場(chǎng)合,為保持語言簡(jiǎn)潔明了,交流者往往會(huì)省略彼此所知或邏輯上可明確推斷的內(nèi)容。例如:

            AnythingI can do for you?

            我能為您做些什么嗎?(省略句首部分Is there)

            Pleasehand me one of those books; I don’t care which.

            請(qǐng)把那些書遞給我一本,不管哪本都行。(省略句尾部分you hand me)

            2) Itdepends (on) who/ what/ how/ whether…是一個(gè)常見句型。當(dāng)depend后接疑問詞及含有疑問詞的短語和從句時(shí),口語中會(huì)省略depend后的介詞on,以求話語簡(jiǎn)練。例如:

            Itdepends what day you catch me, and at what time of day.

            這取決于你哪天見我,以及見我的時(shí)間。

            Well,as for this matter, I can’t decide for now. Depends whether or not your dadwill say yes.

            嗯,這件事我現(xiàn)在決定不了,取決于你老爸是否會(huì)同意。

            2. Ijust want to laugh and not think too much.

            這句話中的to laugh和not think too much均為動(dòng)詞不定式,但后者在not和think之間省略了to。英語語句中當(dāng)多個(gè)不定式結(jié)構(gòu)并列使用時(shí),to出現(xiàn)在第一個(gè)結(jié)構(gòu)中,后面的往往會(huì)省略。再如:

            Shelikes to sing, dance and hang out with her friends.

            她喜歡唱歌、跳舞、與朋友們外出消遣。

            3. Iprefer music that has great lyrics.

            句中的prefer意為“更喜愛;更喜歡”,后可接名詞、v.-ing形式或動(dòng)詞不定式。如:

            Iprefer the white bag. 我更喜歡那個(gè)白色的包。

            Tonyprefers staying / to stay at home on weekends.

            托尼更喜歡周末待在家。

            此外,prefer還可用于句型“prefer ... to ...”中,意為“喜歡……而不喜歡(勝過)……”。如:

            Lindaprefers apples to pears.

            琳達(dá)喜歡蘋果而不喜歡梨。

            Iprefer reading books to watching TV. 我喜歡閱讀而不喜歡看電視。

            仔細(xì)觀察下面例句中suppose的用法和意義,然后補(bǔ)全結(jié)論部分所缺的內(nèi)容。

           。1)觀察例句a可知,“被期望/要求做某事”或“該做某事”可用 __________________ 結(jié)構(gòu)表示,含有必須、應(yīng)該做某事之意,相當(dāng)于should。

            —Yes, Isuppose so. / No, I suppose not.

           。2)例句b中“suppose +that從句”意為“猜測(cè)/假定……”,that可以省略,若為否定句,和think,believe等動(dòng)詞的用法一樣,應(yīng)該否定____(主語/從句),即否定前移;例子c中對(duì)疑問句作肯定回答可用________________ ,否定回答可用No, I suppose not。

            在復(fù)合句中修飾名詞或代詞的從句叫定語從句

            e.g. I like music that I can dance to.

            music是先行詞,that是關(guān)系代詞

            He is the man who I met yesterday.

            man是先行詞,who是關(guān)系代詞

            人 (n.) + who/that + 從句 物 (n.) +that/which + 從句

            關(guān)系代詞who; that;的作用:

            a. 做代詞,代替先行詞

            b. 在從句中擔(dān)任句子成分:主語或賓語

            c. 做連詞,把主句和從句連接起來

            who / that/which 在定語從句中做主語時(shí),

            謂語動(dòng)詞的單復(fù)數(shù)應(yīng)與先行詞保持一致

            which,that 和who是定語從句中重要的引導(dǎo)詞。下面的例句是由which, that和who引導(dǎo)的定語從句。請(qǐng)同學(xué)們仔細(xì)觀察,然后補(bǔ)全結(jié)論部分所缺內(nèi)容。
