what s your plan for dragon boat festival?

As a chinese, I was really ashamed of having a little knowledge of dragon boat festival. Perhaps I was born in northern city, though my city is nearby sea, it has been built a U port which I can only see cargo ships and can t see the sweeping ocean. So I have never see the dragon boat contest since I was born. So the dragon boat festival is just a holiday for eating Zong Zi . My mother made Zong Zi when I was a child. Because there was no supermarket, we couldn t buy finished product from market. However, now, we can buy anything in supermarket, so my mother didn t make them anymore. The boat festival began to fade out my mind.

In reality, young people began to have a bug to celebrate foreign festivals, such as Christams, Saint Valentine s day, April Fool s Day, some people also celebrate Easter in church. Talk about Dragon boat festival, it s the same as some foreign conventional festivals, such as Witch s Day in Czech. People burned the witch s puppet so as to welcome spring. Some people are willing to celebrate foreign festivals because they like alien culture. And vice versa, foreigners who like China also concern about Chinese traditional culture.

After new holiday regulation, we have three holidays during the dragon boat festival. So many people will choose this time to travel. People who lived in Xiamen are able to visit Xiapu or Wu Yi mountain, these tourist attractions are in Fujian province, which is suit a short tirp. but I d like to stay at home for my decorate painting. I decide to draw two canvases about Christmas, it s really a big project. Then I ll hang them on the new house wall. I must start it now, or I can t finish them before Christmas eve. But I preceive it s a little difficult to draw them in such a hot season.

Duanwu Festivalis a traditional Chinese festival held on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar. It is also known as the Double Fifth. It has since been celebrated, in various ways, in other parts of East Asia as well. In the West, it‘s monly known as Dragon Boat Festival.

The exact origins of Duan Wu are unclear, but one traditional view holds that the festival memorializes the Chinese poet Qu Yuan of the Warring States Period. He mitted su icide by drowning himself in a river because he was disgusted by the corruption of the Chu government. The local people, knowing him to be a good man, decided to throw food into the river to feed the fish so they would not eat Qu‘s body. They also sat on long, narrow paddle boats called dragon boats, and tried to scare the fish away by the thundering sound of drums aboard the boat and the fierce looking carved dragon head on the boat‘s prow。

In the early years of the Chinese Republic, Duan Wu was also celebrated as "Poets‘ Day," due to Qu Yuan‘s status as China‘s first poet of personal renown。

Today, people eat bamboo-wrapped steamed glutinous(粘的)rice dumplings called zongzi(the food originally intended to feed the fish)and race dragon boats in memory of Qu‘s dramatic death.

Dragon Boat race Traditions At the center of this festival are the dragon boat races. Competing teams drive their colorful dragon boats forward to the rhythm of beating drums. These exciting races were inspired by the villagers valiant attempts to rescue Chu Yuan from the Mi Lo river. This tradition has remained unbroken for centuries.

Tzung Tzu A very popular dish during the Dragon Boat festival is tzung tzu. This tasty dish consists of rice dumplings with meat, peanut, egg yolk, or other fillings wrapped in bamboo leaves. The tradition of tzung tzu is meant to remind us of the village fishermen scattering rice across the water of the Mi Low river in order to appease the river dragons so that they would not devour Chu Yuan.

Ay Taso The time of year of the Dragon Boat Festival, the fifth lunar moon, has more significance than just the story of Chu Yuan. Many Chinese consider this time of year an especially dangerous time when extra efforts must be made to protect their family from illness. Families will hang various herbs, called Ay Tsao, on their door for protection. The drinking of realgar wine is thought to remove poisons from the body. Hsiang Bao are also worn. These sachets contain various fragrant medicinal herbs thought to protect the wearer from illness.

Dragon Boat Festival is one of the most important lunar festivals in China. It is on the 5th of the fifth lunar month.

Almost every Chinese spends this festival. Before,in China, when this day comes,we dont have holiday. But from year 2008 on,the government specified this day as the holiday. Therefore,we can have enough time and energy to celebrate this day.

In my memery,Dragon Boat Festival is in memory of the greatest poet Quyuan who was a patriot and died for his Country. He died from suicide .He threw himself into the river. In order to memorize him, people invented the zongzi which is a pyramid-shaped dumpling made by glutinous rice wrapped in reed or bamboo leaves. This custom is handed down till now.We now still eat zongzi. When it mentions zongzi,we have to mention Jiaxing zongzi from Zhenjiang province. The zongzi from this place is very famous and delicious .We suggest you should have a try.

Besides eating zongzi in this festival, some places also have dragon boat races. It is also in memory of Quyuan.Dragon boat is a quite interesting game which is liked by people deeply. Also there are many other activities that day.In my hometown,we need to eat eggs.I think everyone must have their own ways to celebrate their festival.

Today is the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, the annual Dragon Boat Festival. Our family eats zongzi at home to celebrate the festival.

Mother brought up the steamed rice dumplings. I see a lot of zongzi are made of green leaves wrapped in the shape of a triangle. I took off their "green clothes," and the flesh came out. Oh, how sweet! I took a bite immediately. It was delicious! Very soft and fragrant! There are also peanuts, platycodon, and spittle.

Suddenly, I remembered something. Ask the father: why does the Dragon Boat Festival eat zongzi? My father told me that there was a patriotic poet named qu yuan in ancient times. On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, hate jumped out of the river. In order to salvage him, he was afraid that the big fish would eat him, and he would sprinkle a lot of rice dumplings into the river, and the boats of the dragon boat race to salvage. Later, in order to commemorate him, he agreed to eat zongzi on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, rowing dragon boats.

Listen to dads story. I finally understand the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival and why eat zongzi. It is to commemorate our country patriotic poet qu yuan!

This years Dragon Boat Festival is really meaningful!
