熟能生巧小故事 Skill comes from practice
During the Northern Song Dynasty, there was a skilled archer. One day he drew a big crowd while he was practicing on the drill ground. He shot so
accurately that the on-lookers cheered with excitement. He became very proud of his skill. But among the crowd an old oil peddler only nodded his head indifferently. This hurt his Pride.
“Can you do this?” he asked the old oil peddler.
“No, I can‟t.”
“What do you think of my skill?”
“Just OK, but nothing special. You‟ve gained your accuracy from persistent practice. That‟s all.”
“What can you do, then?” the old man said nothing. He put a gourd bottle on the ground and covered its mouth with a copper coin. He then scooped out a ladle of oil from his big jar, held it high and began to fill the bottle.
Now, a thread of oil came down from the ladle into the bottle just through the hole of the coin. Everybody looking on watched with amazement. But the old man said, “This is nothing special, I can do this because I have practiced it a lot.” And with these words, he left.
Later, people use this phrase to mean “Practice makes perfect”.
北宋時期，有個技藝高超的射手。有一天，他在訓(xùn)練場上練習(xí)射箭，引來了一大群人觀看，大家都稱贊他的技藝，他感到非常驕傲。但他發(fā)現(xiàn)人群中有個賣油翁只是淡淡的點(diǎn)點(diǎn)頭，這使得他很不高興。
他就問那老頭：“你會射箭嗎?”
“不會。”
“你認(rèn)為我的技術(shù)如何?”
“一般。沒什么特別的，你只能對付固定的東西，僅此而已。”
“你會干什么?”
這個老頭沒有回答。他把一個葫蘆放在地上，接著把一枚銅錢放在瓶口。然后從他的大油壺里舀起一勺油。
從高處往放在地上的葫蘆里倒。只見那油就像線一樣從銅錢中間的小洞里滴下去，一滴都沒有漏出來。圍觀者都驚呆了。而這個賣油翁卻說：“其實(shí)沒什么大不了的，只不過是天天練的結(jié)果。”說完，他就離開了。
后來，人們用“熟能生巧”這個成語來表示熟練了就能作得好。
A man was going to the house of some rich person. As he went along the road, he saw a box of good apples at the side of the road. He said,

He began to go home. He had eaten no food that day. He began to want food. He came to the apples, and he was glad to take them out of the dust and eat them.
Do not throw good things away; you may be glad to have them at some other time.
老貓

于是，老婦很生氣，因?yàn)槔县垱]有把老鼠咬死。她開始打這只貓，貓說：“不要打你的老仆人，我已經(jīng)為你服務(wù)了很多年，而且還愿意為你效勞，但是，我實(shí)在
太老了，對年紀(jì)大的不要這么無情，要記住老年人在年青時所做過的有益的事情。”
