1:Aeroplanes are slowly driving me mad.(在are的配合下,driving成為了謂語動詞的一部分)

示例2:Passing planes can be heard night and day.(作planes的定語)

示例3:Sometimes I think this house will be knocked down by a passing plane.(作plane的定語)

1:Passing planes can be heard day and night.(飛機(jī)與聽到的關(guān)系是被動的)

示例2:The airport was built years ago.(機(jī)場與建造的關(guān)系是被動的)

示例3:For some reason, it could not be used then.(it就是指機(jī)場,它與使用的關(guān)系是被動的)

示例4:Over a hundred people must have been driven away from their homes by the noise.(人們與趕走的關(guān)系是被動的')

示例5:This house will be knocked down by a passing plane.(房子與震倒的關(guān)系是被動的,而且是將來的事情)

示例6:I have been offered a large sum of money to go away.(我與提供一大筆錢的關(guān)系是被動的)

I am one of the few people left.

            Part VI:

            Flattering(奉承) Remarks(話)

Jack was young, rich, and fond of(喜歡) girls. He hardly ever did any work and spent most of his time enjoying himself.

One summer he bought a big motor-boat(機(jī)動船). As soon as it was ready to go to sea, he telephoned one of the girls he had met somewhere and invited her for a trip in his new motor-boat.

The way Jack used to invite a girl for the trip in his boat was like this: he would begin by saying, Hello, Laura (or whatever the girls name was), I have just bought a beautiful new motor-boat and I would like to take you out for a trip in it.

The girls answer was usually cautious(謹(jǐn)慎的,小心的) because everybody in that part of the country knew Jacks reputation(聲名) with girls. She would ay something like this. Oh, really? Thats nice. What name have you given to the boat? Jack would then answer, Well, Laura, I have named it after you.

Of course, the girl would feel very proud that Jack had chosen her name for the boat out of the names of all his many girl-friends and she would think that Jack must really love her. She would, therefore, be quite willing to accept his invitation to go for such a trip in his motor-boat.

It would not be until she got down to the harbour(港口) and actually saw the boat that she would understand how cleverly(聰明地) Jack had tricked(耍弄) her because there in neat(整齊的) gold letters on the boat, she would see its name After you.
